Catenary Structures & Ruled Surface (Research)

What is Catenary? In physics and geometry, a catenary is the curve that an idealized hanging chain or cable assumes under its own weight when supported only at its ends.

In this concept or way of architecture many famous contractors made colossal structures that are know and still present today like the following:

But how can we create such said art? By Ruled surface is the answer. In geometry, a surface S is ruled if through every point of S there is a straight line that lies on S. The most familiar examples are the plane and the curved surface of a cylinder or cone.

The Creation

This Project had a journey through the rough seas and sunk to the bottom at a point. But after focusing on what made me happy I decided to absorb ideas from others, our surroundings, and also through the concept of untangling hair, Aztec temples, and symmetry of lines.

Before

This is an image of the work before the new design was created. "A clutter"

"Catenary Structure"

While this image is the New Design of our Pavilion, this is our hard work and struggles on thin fragile tensioned string. A model adapted by royal crowns and how the man who wears it shows authority and could create vast wonders or destroy them at any given time...

Wooden Model

By far one of the greatest challenges of my life was trying to get every angle precise and using small portions of glue to make something grand and sturdy. A unique interior and exterior for the people of the city to vast in wonder and amazement.

Site Plan
I decided to do my sketches on 5th Ave West 26th St through the corner entrance heading towards the fountain.

Final Presentation Board
I have reached the conclusion of this project but never shall I think that nothing else can be added or removed to make something even greater, for you see, as a wise man once said, "Life is much broader once you realize one simple fact...and that is that everything around you was created by man no smarter...than you." -Steve Jobs.

The Journey to Rockwell- Arch Office

On my 5 minute walk I stumbled upon the wonders and ideas of  many architects and designers in the Arch office in union square. Simplicity at its must complex stage.

Once I entered the environment I noted that everyone was working and concentrated in their works, the monitors were filled with houses, architectural structure, I believe some type of motherboard programming was going on as well. My thoughts when I saw these models, ideas, and lector

I learned that from Oscars to popup restaurants, Rockwell provides amazing structures that wow the eye, not so much focusing on structure but rather internal architecture that gives a synopsis of what happened or will happen at any given moment .

Folding in Architecture & Design -Research

Kyuhashim- Know for his art in folding and geometric ways, this photo had no info but a fascinating approach in creating such loving creations out of paper.
